Types of Reservoirs
- Surface reservoirs
- Elevated reservoirs
Surface reservoirs
- These are also called ground reservoirs.
- Mostly circular or rectangular tanks.
- Groundwater reservoirs are especially large in size.
- These reservoirs are built in high natural areas and are usually made of stone, brick, plain or reinforced concrete cement.
- The side walls are designed to absorb the pressure of the water when the reservoir is full and the pressure of the ground when it is empty.

- H.D.P.E Tanks
R.C.C. TANKS:-
- It is reinforced concrete cement.
- They have a long life.
- Very little maintenance.
- Decent appearance.
G.I. TANKS:-
- It is if galvanized iron.
- Generally square or rectangular in shape
- The life of the tank is short
- Corrosion of metal occurs
- Maintenance cost is high
H.D.P.E TANK (high-density polyethylene) & LDPE Tank
- It is very popular for storing less quantity of water and hence useful for residential purpose.
- Handling is easy because of lightweight.
- Cheap in cost
- The maintenance cost is low.
- Cleaning tanks is easy.
