Irrigation controller

Irrigation controller is a device for operating automatic irrigation systems such as lawn sprinklers and drip irrigation systems. Most controllers have a way of adjusting the frequency of irrigation, the start time, and the duration of watering. Some controllers have additional features such as multiple programs that allow different irrigation frequencies for different types of plants, input terminals for rain delay settings, rain and freezing sensors, soil moisture sensors, weather data, and remote operation.
There are two broad categories of irrigation controllers: home for gardening applications and professional controllers for more demanding agricultural applications. Most household (horticultural) controllers can only open for a period of time, without any feedback from the irrigation process, to the volume (specific amount / cubic meter / gallon) of feedback received by professional irrigation controllers and feedback from the process to the actual feedback.

Types of Irrigation controller

  • Clock-timed controllers
  • Smart controllers
  • Wi-fi or Bluetooth-enabled controllers

Clock-timed controllers
Clock-time controllers allow you to manually program the weekly watering schedule, but you must remember to change the schedule as the seasons change.

Smart controllers

Based on local weather data, smart controllers adjust watering schedules to actual site conditions; Some use sensors that can detect rain or soil moisture to avoid unnecessary watering. Some clock timers can be connected to a plug-in device that enables them to act as a smart controller

Wi-fi or Bluetooth-enabled controllers

Wi-Fi or Bluetooth-enabled controllers are clock-tied or smart controllers that connect to your mobile device. Some manufacturers offer WiFi compatible upgrades to older controller models. No matter how you control your irrigation system, it is important to do regular maintenance. Before the weather warms up, check for leaking pipes or broken sprinkler heads and make sure sprinklers do not spray the sidewalk.
